Obama says Trump talks very differently when they’re face to face: ‘He don’t talk like that because he knows better’

Barack Obama has claimed that Donald Trump’s attitude toward him changes completely depending on whether they are in the same room together, calling out what he described as a stark difference between Trump’s public comments and his private demeanor.

Obama made the remarks on Wednesday’s episode of the All the Smoke podcast, hosted by former NBA players Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson.

Obama claims Trump speaks differently behind closed doors

During the conversation, the hosts brought up the fact that Trump frequently mentions Obama by name. The former president called it an “obsession” and said it was evidence that Trump was “not focused on the American people.”

He then went further, claiming that Trump’s tone shifts dramatically when the two are actually in the same room.

“If this – whoever you were talking about – was in front of me, which has happened a couple times, he don’t talk like that because he knows better,” Obama said.

“That filter of the phone creates a situation where people just say kind of crazy stuff that they would never say to your face with no consequences.”

The remarks came just days after Trump referred to Obama as a “stupid son of a b*tch” during a press appearance at the G7 Summit in France, in reference to the Iran nuclear deal signed during Obama’s presidency a decade ago.

Obama did not mention that specific comment by name, but the timing made the message clear.
